The Art of Body Sugaring
Body Sugaring is an ancient technique brought into modern times. It uses an all natural paste made from sugar, lemon and water making it safe and effective for all skin types and hair textures. The technique used, allows your dermal therapist to gently remove hair with less pain when compared to other epilation methods. It is an effective hair removal method for all areas of the body including the face. It also refines and reduces hair regrowth with regular appointments spaced at 4 to 6 weeks apart.
The sugar paste used is kept at room temperature so it will never burn you and it is sanitary for a number of reasons. Sugar is antimicrobial in high concentrations so it cannot breed bacteria and your therapist doesn’t need to go back into the jar because they are skilled at knowing the right amount to take out at one time.
Preparing for your appointment
If you haven’t sugared or waxed for a length of time you will need your hair to be about 1/4” long or about the length of a grain of rice. For subsequent appointments, the growth can be much less.
Do not exfoliate the day before or the day of your appointment.
Do not trim your hair. Your dermal therapist can trim your hair if it is too long.
Please ensure that you remove all lotions and deodorants from the area being treated.
After your treatment
Some clients with extra sensitive skin may experience small red bumps. This is nothing to worry about as the base of the hair is wider than the pore so this reaction is completely normal and will begin going away immediately and should be completely gone within 24 hours.
Before applying make up on the face immediately after your treatment, please ensure to use a high quality moisturizer to provide a barrier.
Your dermal therapist will provide you with an aftercare cream that you can use to help calm and soothe your skin, leaving it silky smooth.
Exfoliate between appointments. 3 to 4 times a week on the face | 5 to 7 times a week on the body. You do not need to exfoliate the day after your treatment.
Moisturize every day and ensure you are drinking plenty of good quality water in order to keep your skin supple and healthy.
